Babbling Like Pagans

by | Nov 20, 2025

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans,
for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them,
for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Matthew 6:7-8 (NIV)

Lord, when I hear long repetitive and ostentatious prayers, sometimes they leave me empty. Maybe You’d rather hear simpler prayers from me—ones that are real, briming with trust and bursting with our friendship rather than a mountain of words that ring hollow and are lacking our sweet communion…

Questions for Pondering…

When I get repetitive in my prayers, is it then easier to ignore real fellowship with the Lord?
Do I dip into repetitive prayers because I think God didn’t hear me the first time?
