I Am Not a Horse

They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green.

Psalm 92:14 (NIV)

As I grow older, Lord, I am feeling kind of put out to pasture. That might be a good and compassionate thing to do for an old horse, but I am not a horse. I am a woman of advancing years who is made in Your image and who would still like to bear fruit.

Jesus, You have been known to surprise me with new ideas and adventures. Please give me purpose—Your purpose—in this new season of my life. I might be tired some days, Lord, but I am willing. Amen.

Questions for Pondering…
Why do people always attach so much importance to their careers?
What talents and interests do I have that I never had time to pursue while I was working fulltime, and could any of those bring me purpose and joy now?
