What is Man?

by | Apr 15, 2026

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)

Dear God, on those dazzling nights when I consider Your heavens, I find it all so magnificent that I am overwhelmed with awe. And yet I see only a fraction of Your creation and only a glimmer of Your vast power to create it. I am amazed that You even consider mankind. And yet according to Your Word, You have made us in Your image. You have made us a little lower than the angels. You have crowned us with honor and glory.

Wow. I cannot understand such a privilege, such care. But I can praise You for it with all my heart, all my soul.

Questions for Pondering…
Why does the world want to diminish the fact that I am made in God’s image and that I am greatly loved by Him?
I see people growing more disrespectful and even hateful as the years go by. Do these verses from the Psalms challenge me to treat my fellow sojourners with greater esteem?
